Letter of motivation

Reasons for applying and career plans.

  • Your letter should not exceed 600 words
  • Write about your motivations for the course: why would you like to study public health, how are your career plans connected with this programme
  • Do not repeat information already provided in your CV, however you may develop it E.g. if you mention some facts in your CV (voluntary work, internships, other activities etc.), in your motivation letter you may emphasize aspects of this experience that in your opinion are important to justify your predispositions for a public health programme.
  • This essay should not be a literary work. It should provide a concrete justification of why you are a good candidate for the MPH
    programme.
  • It is recommended to mention the specific interest in the area of public health you would like to work on during your studies or/and after.

A scanned copy of your last diploma

Evidence of English proficiency

If you want to attend the Master of Public Health at EHESP, you must be able to show that your English is good enough for you to successfully complete your course.

Only the following tests with corresponding scores will be accepted as language proficiency proof: Other test results will NOT be considered. 

  • IELTS Academic test : overall score of at least 6.5 AND a score of at least 6.5 in writing OR overall score of 7 or higher. IELTS Indicator is accepted.
  • TOEFL iBT or Home Edition: overall score of 90 or above, with no less than 19 in Listening, 20 in Reading, 22 in speaking and 21 in writing. TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition is accepted.
  • PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic) : overall score of 63 or above, with no less than 59 in each component
  • Cambridge Advanced or Proficiency Certificate : overall score of 180 or above with at least 175 in each component

The date of the test must be less than 2 years old at the beginning of the course (i.e. no older than 1st September 2022  for the academic year 2024-2025 – the date taken into account is the date of the test, not the date of receipt of the results).

Candidates exempted from providing an English test:

  • if you hold a previous higher education degree fully taught in English and have clearly specified that the degree was fully taught in English either on the transcripts or the diploma or the diploma supplement or on a MoI certificate* (Medium of Instruction certificate) issued by the University.

Any applicant who does not meet any of the above-mentioned condition must provide valid English test among those listed above (applications without language proficiency proof will not be considered)

*In order to be eligible for the MPH application, the MoI m must contain the following information : It has to be on an official letter heading from the awarding institution duly signed or stamped or both; It should contain the applicant’s name; The name of the degree should be mentioned; The date of the certificate; The document must mention the course was taught in English; The certificate should say that the degree was ‘Awarded’, ‘Granted’ or ‘Conferred’; Contact details of the Institute or the awarding body; Contact details of the University; >Designation of the official issuing the certificate should be mentioned; The name and contact details of the official who issues the certificate should be present in the certificate as well.
